From Japan to California to Hawaii: Roger and Himari’s journey

My clients Roger and Himari have lived a Silicon Valley life filled with love, family, and adventure. As their listing agent, I had the privilege of witnessing their transition to an exciting new chapter in their lives—one Himari had dreamed of for years. And what a journey it was!

After raising their two beautiful and savvy daughters in San Jose, Roger and Himari were eager to simplify their lives and immerse themselves in a new environment. Roger’s ability to work remotely allowed the couple to seize the opportunity for a fresh start, so they decided to make their lifelong dream of living in a Hawaiian paradise a reality.

But the prospect of moving off the mainland was daunting, especially from a home filled with so many cherished belongings accumulated over decades. So, with the girls off to college, the couple and I went to work devising a plan to streamline their downsizing project.

This included broaching the topic of estate sales and garnering the support of a professional organizer.

But because their desire to simply pack their bags and go was so strong, Roger and Himari decided not to be burdened by their unwanted personal items. Feeling they had enough wealth and privilege without those material things, they asked me to make arrangements to donate everything in the house to various recipients, from college students to neighbors and friends.

As our team worked tirelessly to clear the house and prepare it for sale, we were amazed by the outpouring of gratitude from those who received these unexpected treasures. Little did we realize the sheer volume of items left behind would allow us to furnish entire homes and bring joy to countless individuals! From bedroom sets to kitchen essentials and more, Roger and Himari’s generosity touched the lives of many.

Within just a few weeks, the once-filled house was beautifully staged and ready to welcome new owners. It didn’t take long for the perfect buyer to fall in love with the space, resulting in a swift and successful sale at top dollar.

Roger and Himari’s selfless act of giving not only helped them start their new chapter in Hawaii but also brought joy and fulfillment to so many others. It was a privilege to be part of their journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help them turn their house into a home for someone new.

Cheers to new beginnings and the power of generosity!

Sincerely,
Julie
